Only loved at night
Dress: handmade
Boots: Sasha
I made this dress… a while ago now. The construction isn’t really interesting but I’m soooo in love with the fabric. It’s by Nani Iro, they have such gorgeous designs.

Here I am! It’s only been about five months. This dress, like many that I own, was found at my grandfather’s house. There are definite perks to coming from a family of hoarders! My grandfather’s attic is like a treasury. Mostly, it helps that my family hoards the same things that I love: books and clothes.
I finally found a pair of glasses that I love. In like, I’m crazy about them. Haven’t worn my contacts in months. I’m considering getting a second pair that’s exactly the same? Is that too much? Probably XD. But what if they break? I’ll post a better picture of them someday.
Oh, do any of you DIY-ers own or know a really good book on creating your own patterns? I’m learning the basics in my class right now but having a big comprehensive guide at home would be awesome.
Casual days
The weather has been perfect (by which I mean really hot!). So I’m keeping things casual. My hair is finally getting long enough to wear it in braids, yay! Also I made this dress and I now wear it everywhere because I’m obnoxious like that.
Dress: handmade, shoes: Replay
For curious minds: for the top part I made a pattern based on this dress, because that seemed like an easy top to replicate XD. For the bottom I basically just used all the fabric I had left and mostly followed the instructions of this video. I didn’t want to make pleats because I would need them to be perfect and that seemed like too much work, so I went with this tutorial for a skirt with basting stitch instead.

Another picture my brother took today. He forbade me from cropping it in the slightest. Anyway, I made this shirt a while ago when I had a craft day with a friend. I was ridiculously proud of myself but yesterday I made a dress so now I’m proud of that instead. I’ll post the dress soon! I am so glad I decided to take these sewing classes, even though I’ve only made pyjamas and an apron in the actual classes XD.

The weather has been AWESOME lately. Sunshine everyday! It’s fun but then I worry that the sunshine is keeping me from stressing about all my assignments? So I end up worrying over whether or not I’m stressing enough which seems rather… ineffective.

Shirt: secondhand, dress: Topshop, skirt: secondhand, socks: Happy Socks, shoes: Miracle, bag: Cambridge Satchell Company.
I think it’s pretty obvious that I would be CRAZY about this bag. I’ve been wanting this exact bag ever since I saw it online some years ago but never actually got around to buying one. I found it in a local shop recently, so yay, my laziness/cheapness kind of paid off!
Also, I’m writing an opinion piece about religion classes in high school, and I’d love to know how you were all taught about religion&culture/what sort of thing they talked about in those classes? Any info is fine, I’m just trying to figure out ways to improve the classes here.
Here, have some overdramatic Japanese eighties pop, that I can’t help but like for some reason:
The head on the door
Top: handmade
Skirt: secondhand
Shoes: Topshop
I made this top a while ago as a sort of ‘test’ for another top I made (with cuter fabric). I’ll try to take a picture of the other one soon. FYI, I made it with the help of this online tutorial. In other DIY news: I desperately need some petticoats but they are so expensive! Tips to make your own are very welcome (though I’ll probably figure it out anyway, it’s not like it has to look good).
Adventures close to home
Here are some quick pictures of recent outfits! After a short holiday, university started up again. I’m pretty excited about my new courses (Victorian poetry! Dutch poetry! etc) but also tired.
Shirt: H&M
Skirt: Blutsschwester
I don’t have much to say aside from bragging about finding The Raincoats’ self-titled album today :o. I never thought I’d run into it in a local store, so I’m just really excited about that XD.

Thurston & Kim & Me
My brother took this picture! You can probably tell that he likes taking pictures more than I do. Also, than I like modelling XD.
I got this new H&M sailor jacket that I’m really happy with. I haven’t been shopping a lot lately, but it can be really pleasing to find something great <3. Currently, I’m enjoying a short holiday that has been really busy in the most satisfying way. Though I’ve barely done any school work, but school work is not the point of holidays anyway! (more…)
Papaya Paradise
Had my Shakespeare exam today. I was very cheerful, but I’m not sure why XD. Anyway, I took a quick picture of my outfit. I love my new socks, my mom got me a few pairs of Happy Socks for Christmas and I love them so much!
Shirt: secondhand
Skirt: Topshop
Socks: Happy socks
I’m bummed (mostly because my exam schedule is annoying but that’s not a rant for here) because I wanted to order an album from Amazon Japan today, only to find out the shipping costs 30 euros! WHAT?! Oh Papaya Paranoia, why can’t they have your awesome early albums on any other website :(.
Anyway, 3 exams down, 3 to go! LET’S DO IT.
I was a teenage cave woman
Hello everyone! As you might have guessed, I’m currently in the middle of exams and that is why I haven’t updated. As usual, I only get out of the house for actual exams and I’m often too tired/stressed to take pictures then. But after today’s exam, my schedule allowed me to take the afternoon off and I did some sewing (and a lot of sleeping).
My Kindle arrived recently (omg yay!), and of course I wanted a good cover to protect it with. I first ordered the standard Amazon leather one, but there are some problems with it and I’m returning it. Looking for a different one, I had the idea to turn to Etsy.
On Etsy I found the shop BirdifulStitches, that sells PDF patterns to make your own cover :o. This being pretty much exactly what I wanted, I bought one and made this:
It’s a rough first attempt with scrap fabric. I rushed things a bit and left out the pockets, but I’m still pretty happy with the result!
The cover feels like it will protect the Kindle well enough, and it’s lighter than the leather one. So overall, I’m pretty happy with this purchase!
Hope you’re all doing great!
